About PAA (Melb)
The Peranakan Association Australia Inc. (PAA Melb), also known as Melbourne Peranakans, is a vibrant multigenerational community with a vision to preserve, propagate & promote the Peranakan culture and values. We have become a ‘home away from home’ for many Peranakan migrants from Malaysia and Singapore and a place to belong for Australian-born Peranakans.
Every year, our membership is growing steadily, including increased interest from NextGen Peranakans, who are now participating in helping us achieve our vision. Through our programs, we are:
Creating opportunities to promote, propagate and preserve the Peranakan culture and values
Bridging the connection between Peranakan elders and the younger generation who are working in teams together to achieve our yearly project goals
Sharing meaningful stories, learning Peranakan traditions, language and recipes from one another
Building a vibrant and inclusive Peranakan community in Melbourne, as well as connecting with a global network of Peranakans
Reaching out to non-Peranakans who resonate with or have a keen interest in the Peranakan culture
