Events & Activities
PAA (Melb) hosts various events as opportunities for our community to gather and connect. Public events are open to the public, allowing us to promote our culture beyond our Peranakan community. Our festive events are for members to gather and celebrate important days such as Chinese New Year, Kueh Chang and Mooncake festivals. We also hold regular weekly activities every Sunday, except for long weekends. For more information regarding our events and activities, please see below.
Public Events
To celebrate our 15th Anniversary this year, we ran three public events. Held at the Museum of Chinese Australian History, we hosted a Peranakan exhibition, a wedding performance and a community storytelling afternoon. It was a huge success that went beyond our expectations. To see the official videos of our event, click here.
Festive Events
We celebrate Chinese New Year, Kueh Chang and Mooncake Festivals every year. These events usually include the gathering of PAA members connecting over plenty of ‘makan’ (food), followed by singing, dancing and ‘laujiat’ (merrymaking). We also host an annual dinner and dance to mark PAA’s anniversary. These events are open to PAA members and their guests only. Please inquire about joining as a member here.
Weekly Activities
PAA members meet weekly to connect and engage in activities such as cooking demonstrations, singing, line dancing, instrumental jam sessions, games and ‘makans’ (food). Here, members can deepen their connection with one another and learn more about the culture. These activities are open to PAA members only. Please inquire about joining as a member here.
